Kia is recalling 350,000 Telluride SUVs from 2020-2025 model years after discovering that the factory-installed tow hitch wiring harness can overheat and catch fire, even when not actively towing.

The Defect

An improperly sealed connector allows moisture intrusion, which corrodes the wiring and creates resistance that generates heat. Kia has received 18 reports of fires and 45 reports of melted components.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the tow hitch wiring harness and add a protective weatherproof cover at no charge. Owners should park outdoors until the repair is completed.
