BYD, the world's largest EV manufacturer, has officially entered the US market with the Seagull compact EV priced at $22,000, undercutting every American-made electric vehicle by thousands of dollars.

The Threat

The Seagull offers 200 miles of range, Apple CarPlay, and a 5-star safety rating. At $22,000, it costs less than half of the average American new car and makes EVs accessible to budget-conscious buyers.

Political Backlash

US automakers and the UAW are calling for higher tariffs, arguing that Chinese government subsidies create unfair pricing. The current 27.5% tariff has already been factored into BYD's pricing.
